Cairns is the gateway city to the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas, Daintree Rainforest and the Atherton Tablelands. Catch a boat (such as Reef Magic Cruises) from the Reef Terminal out to one of the many nearby reefs to swim, snorkel or dive to see the colourful coral and friendly fish like Wally the Maori Wrasse. The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway has stunning views over Cairns, Barron Falls and the rainforests as you travel up to Kuranda. You can spend a day visiting the Atherton Tablelands starting with Paronella Park at Mena Creek Falls then on to Mamu Rainforest Canopy Walkway, the waterfalls circuit of Ellinjaa, Zillie and Milla Milla Falls, the giant Curtain Tree Fig and relax at Lake Barrine. Take a scenic coastal drive north from Cairns to Port Douglas on the Captain Cook Highway. The easiest way to see the Daintree Rainforest near Port Douglas would be a visit to Mossman Gorge with excellent swimming and picturesque Wurrmbu Creek.
