This is your dream tropical island getaway. With crystal clear ocean waters lapping against glorious sandy white beaches, the scenery has holiday written all over it.
You can get to the island by boat that takes about half an hour from mainland Australia at Roslyn Bay Boat Harbour, or by plane. You can also take boat rides from the island to visit the Underwater Observatory (leaving from the Spit), go boom netting or just a relaxing cruise. There are many beaches around the island that you can reach by walking along the many tracks on the island. Some of the closer beaches to the resort include Leekes Beach, Putney Beach, Fisherman's Beach (in front of the resort), Monkey Beach and Long Beach. The bushwalks on the way to the beaches also have some interesting stops like the boardwalk and lookout. (Please note the map here only shows about a third of the island.)
One of the best parts about Great Keppel Island is that there are so many things to do, you can never get bored here. However, if you prefer to relax, you are also well catered for. Some of the huge number of fun things to do include kyaking from Keppel Island to Middle Island, go sailing on a catamaran, take a ride on a camel or even have a go at archery. You can also go snorkelling or if you prefer to do the dry version of it, take a ride in the glass bottom boat. The resort has comfortable accommodation and three pools including the Billabong Pool, Peanut Pool and the pool situated adjacent to the beach (which is a perfect place to watch the sun set). During your stay, you can usually find some animals like lizards, kookaburras, possums and admire the beautiful plants like the hibiscus flowers. When you get hungry, why not visit the Admiral Keppel Restaurant. There are also a number of other shops to choose from, including places that sell island souvenirs and various articles.
